I was raised in Avon, Connecticut, near the city of Hartford. I moved to Atlanta, GA to attend Emory University, where I received my B.A. in Political Science in 2010, developed a taste for Texas-style barbecue, and enjoyed camping and hiking trips in Georgia, North Carolina, and beyond. My favorite destination so far is Yosemite National Park in California. A friend's photo from one of our Yosemite trips is the header photo on each page of this website. While at Emory, I studied abroad in Johannesburg, South Africa, which inspired both my research interests related to political violence and my love of international travel. Soon after moving to New York for graduate school in 2011, I met my wife, Erica, and we were married in 2016. Since we met, Erica and I have traveled together in 5 continents. We are headed to La Jolla, CA, where I have started as a Post-Doc at UC San Diego's Center for Peace and Security Studies. We spend a lot of time in Denver, CO where Erica primarily works, and have grown to love the city of Denver and the mountains of Colorado.
